Majnu Ka Tilla (MKT)

Majnu ka Tila, (MKT) also known as Delhi's mini-Tibet, is nothing short of a secret repository, buried amongst the numerous undiscovered streets of Delhi. Prior to being a Tibetan settlement, Majnu ka Tila (the hillock of Majnu) was a mound of great significance - it served as the meeting ground for a local Iranian Sufi mystic, Abdulla, nicknamed Majnu and the Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak, during Sikhander Lodhi's reign over the magnificent Delhi Sultanate. Today it is one of the oldest existing Sikh shrines in Delhi and houses the famous Gurdwara Majnu ka Tila.

From colourful tees with radical slogans, lucky charms and unique bags to an assortment of obscure Korean TV shows and movies, MKT gives diversity a new definition altogether. A cherry on the top is the low price range, making it easy on the pocket for the horde of Delhi University students who throng this place and are probably as regular as the locals the reason being, MKT closeness to the Campus Area.

The market is destination to several remarkable restaurants that serve everything from coffee and desserts to lip smacking Thukpas, Chilly Chicken and Honey Chilly Potatoes. The place offers a range of desserts to choose from - Apple Strudels, Cheese Cakes and Marble Cakes. A diverse variety of drinks are also available here, from chai to Bhoje Ja or Tibetan Butter Tea.
